Adorable . The thing that amazes me is, how a parent bird knows who to feed and when. All yours look to have full crops but surely the bigger baby's jostle for the food first. Its incredible how the parent seems to know who should be next or do you think she goes by the size of the crops. I saw a programme the other day, they were very big birds, i cant remember what, but its natural for the two oldest ones to push any further chicks out of the nest so that only they thrive. I know its common place in nature but sad all the same. There is something even more amazing. Hen is feeding chicks from a day old to 12 days old. A day old chick is fed crop milk which is totally different from what she is feeding the eldest chick, that too in total darkness of the nest box. She is producing different types of food for different chicks. So she knows what she is doing, as the cock's visits to nest box are not very frequent. That really is incredible, i have had two clutches in the past and this truly never crossed my mind, i thought they were all fed the same, crop milk mixed with egg food etc, amazing . What is the reason for you hand raising the first three BB, is it purely to help mum out.

There there BB, you will get over it - all parents have to go through it at some stage I am not worried about this. Unlike human, bird production line is very fertile
