I have come home from work today and noticed Ernie's wing, there seems to be a line of blood along it. There is no blood in the cage or anywhere else and he is being as naughty as ever and making lot's of noise as normal. I have done a video so you can see it, please let me know what you think. Before anyone suggests me getting hold of him, he doesn't do me getting hold of him.

Sorry Mizloco, but I don't know what it is, hopefully nothing serious. What is a blood feather?

A blood feather is a new feather which still has its blood supply. With Ernie's white feathers, it is showing up more than we would normally be able to see. When the feather is fully grown, the blood and vessel recede; Nina you should then have an Ernie with a beautiful new feather with no blood vessel obvious. A pin feather is a blood feather, but a blood feather isn't necessarily a pin feather. The feather can be totally unsheathed and still be growing out to full size, thus needing its supply of nutrients. So in short, Ernie is all good; just growing a new wing feather.

I have a few budgies with white wing feathers and they've had lines or marks of red on them in the past. It's never been anything to worry about though and like Gaile said, its probably just a blood feather x

Don't worry, I had had Smudge for about 18 months when I first noticed one on her. And while I was fairly sure I knew what it was, I did still ask Barrie for confirmation.
