Do some of your buds sleep outside then Hezz , i is confused . I have always covered my indoor buds i think it cuts out the drafts and is cosy for them The big cage gets wheeled outside for the night onto the deck ....... not sure why, that's just the way it has been. Mango and Spyro sleep in a smaller cage inside, more because I remove the seed from the others before I cover them than any other reason ..... I don't think they even touch it 'til morning anyway. If we are going to be away I leave the big cage inside, it's a bit safer. If I have seen any snakes around they stay in as well. My bird keeping acquaintances tell me that the cage is not totally snake-proof and a very small snake may frighten them to death rather than be able to eat them. Coziness is not something I have to think about. Ohhhh i see, confusion over . How lovely for them, it must be so nice to have constant warmth, at night as well. Our biggest worry here with keeping a cage out would be foxes or cats, knocking it over, foxes are a particular problem for us, they are sending Tilly round the bend . Years ago i had all my doors open and a bud in a cage indoors and a cat came tearing in and jumped at the cage sending everything flying, scared the life out of us and the poor bud but thankfully he survived the ordeal and the cage stayed secure.

Yikes!! That sounds awful!! I do hope you send said cat off with a little extra momentum. The deck is one storey off the ground, and while I know cats can be very ingenious, we have never had one on the deck - touch wood! Steel poles may be a bit of an obstacle for them. Little tree snakes are my biggest worry.

Yes said cat left very swiftly . The funny thing was, my old dog at the time was 15, she was deaf and almost blind and slept through the whole ordeal bless her, in her younger day the cat wouldn't have even made it into the garden
