Hi Kenny lost all his flight feathers about 6weeks ago and ended up with short wings and tail during his moult! He still getting a few pin feathers to his head so I'm sure his moult his on going his tail is better but his wings just seem to grow and drop out again and his flight has been hindered somewhat by this! I've messaged breeder but was hoping for some advise/opinions here too in the mean time x Starting to grow in Looking a little wonky And it's gone Do you think he is ill? Xxx

@corie, do you think it is? It certainly looks like the others we have seen, and was my immediate reaction, but I am no expert on the matter.

Thank you all for your replies not what I wanted to hear of course but what I thought you might say! He is a happy little man loves playing with his bells and toys and I love him so much he tries to fly back to his cage from his perch in living room and some days he makes it and some days he doesn't but he never tries to fly to it these days I always out him there by hand I think he's realised getting home from higher ground he can get enough drop to make it but knows he couldn't get the altitude to make it up his little tail goes like crazy it so sweet to see him try tough little cookie never gives up xxx

I don't understand why he has lost all his wing feathers!! French moult usually effects them from a young age!!! His brother Bertie is fine so I'm flabbergasted x
the feathers that have come out are normal no large feather wicks !!!

Gaile, skysmum has Jojo who didn't develop FM until he was around 2 years of age, I think she said, so while the early onset is a general rule, it certainly isn't set in stone. And I understand that not all chicks of a clutch are necessarily affected. If he has been fine up till now, surely the feathers that fall will be normal? It will the replacement feathers that will have the telling deformities??? I don't think anyone would have expected you to have fore-seen this. And I am sure we are all behind you, if this is what Kenny turns out to have. This is not your fault. xxx

Totally agree Hezz if this is FM it is just one of those things! Kenny is lush just as he is, we all have our differences but it makes us all the more interesting I love Kenny and no blame is to be had by anyone Gaile I love Kenny and will always be thankful I got him from you he is a beautiful bud and you have always been there to answer any questions I've had and give advise you are a good breeder! I do wonder what you mean by wicks and what they look like in FM so I can keep an eye out for them xxx
