In a previous thread I said that the crisis was over for Lacey, but now I am not so sure. She WAS being sick and bringing up seeds, continuously. Well she isn't doing this now, but she hasn't been the same since. She is very quiet but she wasn't the noisiest of birds and she seems to act reasonably normal most times, it's just that she sleeps so much. She is eating and drinking ok. I have put GA in the water again today. I did this for three days last time and she seemed to get better. I suppose what I am asking is: Why is she sleeping so much? Is it the heat do you think, although the room the buds are in is not unusually hot and not in the sun.

Joey is sleeping more than normal. Whilst it's not particularly hot it is very humid. I even feel lethargic myself. So it will be doubly difficult in your situation to know if there is something wrong or not.

Did you take her to the vet, Shirls? Sorry, I can't remember. If I were in this situation, I would be giving her extras such as vitamin supplements in the water, maybe a probiotic as well, eggfood constantly available, plenty of sleep at night and plenty of rest during the day, if another bud is a hassler. I wouldn't overdo the GA. You may find that her body will start to rely on it to keep her going rather than get itself back to peak working order again. Bodies can be lazy in that way.

Hi sorry i dont know much however and i dont know if you've read my posts about Skipper but although Skipper's problems are different he's been sick alot and my vet said apple cider vinigar in there water helps. I've got another bird Rocky and he's not i'll and the vet said it'd do him no harm as they both drink from the same pot. He also said that it'd help take away the horrible sick tase out of there mouths if nothing else he told me to put 0.5 ml to 16 tea spoons of water. Check it out first as i dont want to give you any bad advice but it might help. Hope you go on okay.

Hezz I didn't take Lacey to the vet, just initially gave her 3 days of GA. On your advice this time I haven't given her the GA, but she is getting lots of protein. I think it's just the heat/humidity that is affecting her. The others don't pester her at all, she just sits quietly. Got to say tho she does preen Charlie and he preens her, any other attention she just pecks at them and they go away! But they don't bother her nuch anyway. Hi chiprockskip apple cider vinegar is something I put in all the buds drinking water on a daily basis, it was a tip given to me by the breeder. Barrie Shutt also recommends it. Thanks for the good advice tho. Hope your buds are ok now.

I am guessing that she has been moulting recently as well, Shirls? Everyone else's seem to be, and one or two of mine, so I am guessing she has had this to contend with as well. Be vigilant but don't panic. Easy for me to say, hey???
