I'm surprised he didn't, he certainly leaves plenty in the cage. Many times more than Joey.

Oh OP this is AMAZING! I am a tad confused as to why I never came across this thread before and apologise (slightly embarrassed face) I have loved reading EVERY minute! What a journey you are all having. I especially loved Whiskers and the cuttlebone it reminded me of "If I had a hammer"! And as for when they meet, when Whiskers was pinging it was like Joey was saying "soooo...how are you dooooing that?"! I think Joey may learn a thing or two from wee Whiskers

It may have just been the title Sam. Not to worry I/m glad you enjoyed reading it. Yes the cuttlebone, I wondered what he was banging until I looked closely. Joey is learning plenty from this little loveable rogue. He is on the go every minute of the day, and by the state of the cage this morning, most of the night.

Ohhh ive only just spotted this one too OP, i thought it had gone a bit quite on General chat and here you are , mind you i have been whizzing on and off for a few days. This is all so lovely, your Joey looks chuffed to bits with his new found whirl wind . I loved the Vid of Joey's visit to Whiskers cage and the way Joey was ducking and diving out of the way of the swinging toys. Whiskers is not afraid of you for sure though, love the hairdressing session . Its gonna be all good, what a happy result .

Glad you found us. I thought it only right I gave them their own blog then the interested parties could come and see what's happening. At the moment they are like two teenagers, one minute they are best of friends with Whiskers preening Joey and then they are having a little fallout because Whiskers is getting too close. I thought I just saw Joey with his beak open begging for food from Whiskers. I may have been wrong because when I moved to see better the action stopped. Joey must be totally whacked he has never been awake a whole day like this since I got him.

Joey doesn't warn he just lunges, sometimes beak open other times head but. Whiskers is to fast for him though. No this was different. He was sat with beak open head tilted so the mouth was pointing upward. Are they to lod for this sort of thing do you reckon?

To be honest i think its a bit soon for him to be asking to be fed, this is usually reserved for a truly bonded pair, whether male and female or two males, ive never seen two females feed each other but that may be just my experience. He could be though but mine tilt their heads and open their beaks in a warning, it would be interesting to see how that develops. They are never too old to feed each other

Thank you. It will be interesting to see how it develops. I just hope they have quieter night than last night. I was in my bed so never heard what went on. Something surely did.

Yes it is a warning as he still must be a tad unsure of Joey atm. But its not a bad thing, at least he gives a warning! Some just skip that bit But I am loving the new discoveries you are making in the budgie-nese language it is a whole new dimension is it not?! Lets just say I am finding your experiences to budgie keeping not that dissimilar to mine Happy days

Sorry Sam but it was Joey that had the open beak head tilted showing the open mouth to Whiskers. Same thing just the other way round. I have just put he cover on about 15 mins ago and all is quiet. Last night they were both chirping when I went to bed. Could I be in luck?

Hello you three; nice to catch up. Sounds like all is progressing well, the boys are getting on reasonably well. And you - stop worrying so much!
