Well I have been watching them both of them on the platform. Joey is showing Whiskers the ropes that's for sure. They have been going through the feeding routine quite a lot. I can only watch them on the CCTV camera that I have set up in the conservatory and the imagery is not that good so I have been unable to see who was feeding who. If I go anywhere near them the action stops so I can't video them any other way. I will try and salvage something later. Joey is definitely trying to coax Whiskers out of the cage and up to the gym on top of the cage.

I don't know if you remember the millet I was growing, but if you do the pair of them have demolished the few seed heads that I had. The heads were well ripened and were beginning to wilt so I cut them off and pegged them to the cage bars. I have just had a look and there is only the stalks left. I would say it was a success.

Looks like you'll need to grow some more.

Great news with these two. I can't comment regarding the video as we are still having problems on and off, and this seems like a time to be off. But it definitely sounds like Whiskers wants something in return for all his 'putting out'

It's already growing Stace That's what I thought Hezz. Joey does not have a pinnie to show. The first time since I got him. Shame you can't see the video.

I had a look on Google Chrome just now; while it is a bit hard to see, it has always been my observation that the one with the straight stance is the feeder and the one with the head tilted is the one being fed. So, that would mean Joey feeding Whiskers.

Thank you Hezz, that's how I read the action. Earlier when they settled in the cage the roles and stance were the other way round. This is why Marianne & myself thought Whiskers was feeding Joey therefore Whiskers was deemed to be boss. Will they have swapped roles do you think? It does seem that Joey is teaching Whiskers the art of getting from the cage to the gym, and is in the process of getting back in the cage.

It's a bromance, for sure.

I see no reason why they can't change places. It might be a bit strange, but Misty would be my point to make - she is fed by Sparky and also feeds Smudge, so with these two boys who still have to work out a hierachy and both desperate to show how 'good' they are ......... it is almost as though both are too polite to assert any dominance. This will be a very amusing and interesting relationship to follow.

This is all very new and very interesting to me. I had no idea it could be so complicated, especially between two of the same gender. I did expect to see maybe Joey taking Whiskers in as an equal and sharing his domain. Wow, Plenty more to learn yet and I will keep everybody informed. Joey certainly seems to look out for Whiskers as though he was his little brother.

Bert and Ernie will change who feeds who though it is usually Bert feeding Ernie.

Like everyone else, OP, I am loving following this story - seeing Joey blossoming further and in a whole new direction, and Whiskers enjoying his new home and taking such delight in Joey's company. It is all the more special and uplifting having known about your slow and patient journey with Joey over the past year or so. (And the world being what it is, we all need the chance to experience something so lovely.)
