Hi everyone! I'm new here but owned budgies for 3 years now and I dont know why but I'd like to tell ya about it!
I live in a familly who loves animals and we had all kind of animals, mini shark, budgie (oh lots of them but mostlly before I was born) a dg, cats bunnys horses etc yea you get it, but when I started 7th grade (13 years of age) I got my first budgies that i bought from a friend. At this time we stil had both cat dog and horse, but it only took a few months before my mom forgot the birds out in the living room while the dog was lose, and he hated them, couldnt stand them and barked at them all the time, he got one of the boys named sötnosbut the other one Kiwi survived. a while after this our birdfriendly cat, who Kiwi the survivor loved to play ontop of and my dog where both put to leep for diffrent reasons, and we bought kiwi a new friend called Nicora, we had her until I was around 15 (bit younger but not much and then my brother opened up the window while he had the budgies out, I was asleep so didnt know about it. We tried to find him but never did, last place omeone saw him was a few miles away but they never catched him. The next day we got Kiwi his new friend and aid that if Nicora was to be found we would buy yet another one for them o we had 4 of them, but as she was never found we didnt. During Darwins, as the newest budgie a year ago was called, first year she was out on the second floor and investigated everywhere, she landed in the bathtub for some reason filled with water and somebody who forgot to close the door, he almost drowned, but my older sister found her in time and saved her. Since then she has gotten along nicelly with kiwi who now is 9 year of age. He kind of raced her, as she could bearlly fly when we got her.
2 days ago I got 4 more birds for my birtday (I asked and discused aout it for a whole day before they acepted it) but on my birthday we went and got them and the travel home was fast and easy and they now live in our bathroom, wich is a bit more secure than before, they live there as we have gotten 2 cats since then, and none of them are real fans of birds they can eat...Anyway, yesterday, the day after I got them I had to clip their nails as they where way to long and noticed that one of them was walking bad on his fot and had gotten found under his feets. and that another one was dirty around her cloack So she is seperated and I've spened half my birthday money on ropes and stuff like that for the bird with a hurt foot!
Even though I bought non-healthy birds with no way to have them taken to an vet I'm still glad I bought them, they are a new kind of bird, as they are not tame nor nervos around you, Im also expanding my nolage around budgies, hehe, this is gonna be a challange for me, but I think its all gonna work out C:
Sorry for the long mesage, I just wanted to writte it all out C: I'm noping that my new birds will be comfortable and flying abot in a year or so as they never been outside their cage before. :3
Sorry for no pictures, dont really know how to insert them :/
