Hi all, sadly my first post is a rehoming request.
I have a 14 month old male rainbow budgie called Buggerlugs, he is finger tame as long as you are holding a spray of millet, he eats all manner of fresh foods, carrot, apple, parsley, steamed brown rice and barley, etc, as well as the usual seed mixes.
Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with Asthma, and as much as I dont want to, I have to let him go.
I live in Walderslade in Chatham Kent and can deliver within a reasonable distance, but he can be collected if wished.
Please note this is Buggerlugs only, the cage is already earmarked by a family member (who sadly doesnt want to keep budgies)
Many thanks for any help on this.

I used to live in the same place as you and would have taken him off you but now live in New Romney. I must also add that 2 of my children have asthma and we have had birds all their lives. We were never told the birds were a problem.

Hi jacmac, sorry to hear you are rehoming your budgie. I am up in Scotland so is not an option for me. Just out of curiosity, was it you doctor who said to not keep the budgie? If you really don't want to let him go, I would seriously consider investing in an air sterilizer. I suffer asthma and have 6 birds. I know everyone can be different. I got tight chested and since getting a sterilizer it is fantastic. Asthma and birds together can be managed, so that's an option if you really wanted to keep hold of him

Yes there are a few people on here who manage the two, so hopefully you will be able to look into keeping him and get some sort of filter going to help you out. Keeping the dander down, wearing a face mask when cleaning are just some of the things you can look into. I have not had this problem, but I am sure those who have will be willing to help you with their tips.

There are some great filters out there that are able to help with this sort of thing - I have asthma and I have four budgies! If you do need to re-home him I understand but check out this page here before you do
