Hello all,
My friends and I found a little budgie in Victoria Park in east London at the weekend. He is very tame, very little and very sweet! Definitely has been hand tamed, he is so docile.
Please PM me if you have lost a budgie in this area or know someone who has. Would love to return him to his home.
Thanks,
Jane

Thanks, yes I have an ad on parrotalert too, and Marianne posted that ad on here also. Am checking each day if any new ads appear which match.
My friends are flyering too this weekend because of course there's a chance he belongs to an elderly person who might not have access to the internet.
Hope we find his home!

Sounds like you are doing everything that you can to find his home. Good on you! Do you have LoveBirds? We'd love you to stay on the forum and show pics in the other birds and pets section One of the staff members here raised a lovebird by handfeeding him and he's become quite popular here.

Hi there, Yes I have a pair of peach faced lovebirds! They are called Pearl and Jeff Bridges (don't ask). The little blue masked bird in my profile pic is Pearl's old mate Bruce, but he passed away last early year sadly poor little guy, he was epileptic and just had one fit too many unfortunately. We really miss him. We've had Pearl for about 5 years and Jeff for a year. He's from an aviary so is way louder than Pearl (which takes some doing) but he has settled in and is taming perfectly, and Pearl loves him Will post some pictures soon! Cheers Jane

By the way, I need some more budgie advice... I fear the little guy I have taken in is not quite all there... his pupils seem permanently dilated, when I move him into a bright light, they only contract a little - could he be partially blind? He can see when I offer him seeds no problem (he gets excited when he sees the jar), and stepping up is also ok, though often a little unsure / slow, almost as if he can't see my finger until it's right there. He's not deaf because he can hear my birds and squeaks back to them, and he can fly though when he lands somewhere he doesn't seem that sure of himself and sometimes crashes (unless I am offering him seeds, in which case flies right to my hand). I also am not sure he's drinking anything, and I've not seen him preening either, or playing with toys... all things which worry me a bit. He just sits by the mirror in the same place.... I hope he is not unwell, perhaps homesick!? Might just be young and inexperienced with life?! He's so tiny, are there any small breeds of budgie? BUT I don't know the first thing about budgie behaviour so if anyone can help me on this I'd be grateful. Am very confused as you can imagine! We really can't afford to take him to a vet because we have three other animals already, and I can't keep him, but I will do it if anyone on here thinks it sounds urgent. I can upload a video if it will help. Thanks, Jane

Hi and well done for rescuing this little guy . His pupils could just be a sign of his age, very young budgies, under 4 months have jet black pupils, if his pupils are pin like this could be a sign of excitement or anxiety. His behaviour sounds very much like a budgie that is anxious and getting used to new surroundings and sounds. Try not to worry too much about not seeing him drink, they often take time to drink this i think is something to do with being a prey species and feeling vulnerable at the water hole, he is probably drinking when you are not looking, first thing in the morning or later at night. Try covering three sides to his cage to make him feel more secure for a few days. As you say some pics or a little vid would be a help .

If you are worried about him not drinking you could offer him some freshly washed basil leaves.

Hi, Thanks for the tips & reassurance! I will try the freshly washed leaves, good idea. Here are some photos of him. www.dropbox.com/sc/efx0jugzucc0tp5/AADuGC94MakY-xLN8Epyj5xEaThere's a lot of food around his mouth, which he doesn't try to clean - is this an age thing too? I will try to leave him alone for a while, let him settle in a bit more. cheers, Jane

He doesn't look like a young bird but seems to not have an iris ring from what I can see. Nothing to worry about. He seems very tame, must be some ones pet somewhere.

He is lovely. Poor boy, but do glad he found you especially now the weathers changed. Have you contacted local vets? They may have him registered especially as he is such a beautiful shade of blue, might be they can find the owner. Also local rescue in case the owner has rung there.
So sad thinking of him before you found him and the owner's upset.
Hopefully he will be reunited soon
Thank goodness for you
