No JennyB, Lacey hasn't been sick and I have only given her 5 days of meds and now put her back with the others. She seems fine, and I have to admit I don't have much faith in the vet I had so I will just have to see how she goes. Thanks for asking. I did weigh her and she was approx 37gms, so she's not that much under weight, but am feeding her up with groats and egg and millet! Sounds like you have got it right with your two and the syringe, well done

I'm glad Lacey has been okay. The tapping on the syringe was okay when it was empty but I soon realised I'd have to be super quick to push it down at the right time for them to get it that way. Instead I've used a perch with millet attached to it and scoop them up one at a time and then mum or rob gives them the syringe. Each day it's taking a little longer as they now know the drill only another two days to go. I think they're improving and seem perkier during the day. They're still sniffly when they try and sleep especially at bedtime. Merry gave a few nasal squeaks tonight. I'll see how they go on the rest of their dose. The silver lining is that just before I pop them back in their cage I sneak a quick kiss in on their little heads

I know how you feel, Poppy, one of my chooks is unwell at the mo and I have to give her a TABLET would you believe? How is that going? We used to give Rusty our Jack Russell his tablets wrapped in ham. How are you giving poppy hers? I hope she's improving? I think the boys have improved on the baytril. They're still both rubbing their beaks on their perches and Merry still sounds sniffly. Wondering if a little sauna treatment might help clear any congestion.

I like that, a sauna treatment!! It has been recommended to me to use Olbas oil in my chooks sleeping quarters - not sure if that would clear any congestion with the buds. Only use it in an oil burner of course, not anywhere near the buds and I would only use it for a short period of time - see what the other members think???
Poppy is a nightmare with tablets, they are quarter tablets, but still quite big. I started off giving them orally with her sitting on my lap, what a struggle!! Then I wore a jacket and put one side over her to keep her in, again a struggle, then I disguised it in grapes. Success twice, now she won't touch grapes. Tried it in blueberries, now she won't touch blueberries. Scrambled egg was ok for a couple of mornings, but not any more. With all that combination she has had 6 days of tablets and she sounds ok now. So, I will let her off the last two quarters of tablet. I can cope with dogs and cats and tablets!!

Poppy sounds like a smart girl. I did chuckle when I read I tried her on grapes now she won't touch them and the same with blueberries and scrambled egg. There's no flies on her! I can see the logic of trying the lap and the jacket shame it didn't work in the end. It was enough for me having a tiny struggling budgie so I can't imagine a big wriggling poppy to contend with! Pleased she's improved.

A steamed-up bathroom certainly won't hurt the boys with their respiratory issues; a nebulizer works well too, so I have heard, not having needed to go down that route, touch wood! I too had to chuckle reading Poppy's tablet antics.

Hi. Thanks for asking after them. They started the day sleepy but perked up and seemed like they were back to their normal selves. They were flying away from me when I put my hand in as for a week hand = medicine. I cooed at them today and was quiet and gentle and by the evening they were back to trusting my hand and eating millet from it. Pippin even fell asleep on my finger and tucked his head in his back. Merry sat further up my arm and chirped while P slept. I'm being paranoid now. My heart was melting as it would having a sleeping budgie on ones hand but at the same time I was hoping it wasn't because he felt poorly. It's the longest he's stayed on my finger in the four months since the little guys moved in. Rob agreed they seem a lot brighter. Just as I was feeling a little more contented Merry made his squeaking/breathing noises so it would seem the baytril didn't help that symptom. If they trust me and stay on a perch to let me transfer them to their travel cage I have a vets appointment for 5pm today (Wednesday). I'm not sure what he can suggest though. I'd like him to listen to Merry's breathing again and hopefully say that's improved from last time. I'll update when I get back. Xx
