Hello This is my first post and I am very sad to find myself in the position of having to find a home for my 3 budgies. I have 2 dogs one of which is nearly 12 and has lived very happily will the budgies. About 8 weeks ago we adopted a 3 year old dog and she is terrorising the poor birds. She is making their lives a misery and no amount of training has helped. There are 2 cocks one blue and one lilac and a green hen. They live with each other in a large cage and are lovely. I live near Bolton Greater Manchester and hope someone out there will offer them a good home. Everything is free.
Thank you for reading. Nan

If it were me it would be last in, first out. Why does the dog get to stay when the budgies have been in residence longer? ? Sorry, my opinion only, and I am unable to help.

Oh im sorry this is very very sad....Although i love dogs i have to agree with Hezz ,would it not be better for you "all" if you re-homed the new dog,i know it would be hard but will it not be harder to say goodbye to your 3 budgies which by the sound of things you have had for a long long time!? I know when i got my budgie(s) my dog (being a terrier type) used to go mad around the birds, but after a while he just got used to them,he is never in the room when they are out but he doesn't bother with them when they are tweeting in their cage now ect

I could not manage a flock of 5. OP.... that's what I thought and now I have 9... I started off with just one, 3 months on I had an aviary with 5 and now there are 9 and I still have the first one in the living room, so 10 in all. 4 of those are rehomers.

I take my hat off to you both, but I really could not look after five. A few years ago maybe, but not these days. I love these two and can look after them fine, but anymore and it would become a chore and that would not be fair on them.

Good for you OP, it's good to have limits. It's not easy for me at times as I have health conditions, but thankfully have a husband on hand if it gets too much.

I feel for you Nan, I'm a dog lover and have two budgies. When we were first 'gifted' with the little terrier we have now (never had a terrier before) she would sit eyeing the birds up as if ready to leap.....but she is a very biddable little thing and once I said no....she skulked away and has been good with them ever since (4 years now). Just occasionally she looks at me when they are making too much noise, as if to say.... I'd really like a nap now do hope you find someone who'll give the bud's a good home and all the best with the dog! Just watched the news and the dog rescue building in Manchester burning with the loss of some 60 dogs! arson by a teenager....shocking.....excellent donations and help being given though.

How old are the 3 birds and are they pet or exhibition variety?
