While I know it is easy to try and lay blame, really this could have come at any time. Here's praying for B's rapid recovery back to full good health.

Has anyone had experience of a bud's feet turning blue?
I don't mean a mutation thing, but where the feet were one colour (grey) & are now another colour (blue). We are most probably going to the vet tomorrow anyway, so will mention it then....

No, that is not something I am familiar with. Are they cold, the feet? More heat needed? Otherwise lack of circulation is the only other thing I can think of. Good luck at the vet.

It's all been very stressful. I have been worried he has not been eating enough & has been losing weight (my scales are not very reliable). I took him to the vet today to be weighed & thankfully he is 42g (though possibly a gram or 2 more as he was wriggling so much). Much relief as I feared he would have to be hospitalised if much lower.
Apart from the daily struggle with medication... (I have perfected the art of medicating his cheek feathers), he seems in reasonably good spirits.

Poor little B. I did not notice this thread because it wasn't in the health section. I moved it over.
I hope the little one recovers soon. Hugs from us all xx

sweetpea, I have that cheek-feather medicating down to a fine art as well. Even birds used to being handled know that this medicating lark is just not to be tolerated. Did the vet give you anything else to go by?

I have to share this video, taken yesterday, of Cagney attempting to clean Bezukhov's medication-soaked cheek feathers....

Did the vet give you anything else to go by? The vet we saw was not his usual vet. She was very nice but not as experienced as the other vet (who is on holiday). I am glad you have said that even birds that are used to being handled are difficult to medicate. Bezukhov is not normally handled & I certainly understand his struggle not to take the medicine!
