Aww, what a lovely thing to do. He's a little cutie. Cagney is such a good friend. Very cute. Thank you. It's touching to see as although they are best buddies, they never normally preen each other. Cagney, despite being a naughty boy, can be very, very good when the need arises.

That's what makes these guys so interesting. So many different qualities wrapped up in a tiny body. They truly are amazing.

Well, it would seem that Cagney doesn't mind the taste of the meds. He has gotten his dose, if he did need it. Pity it wouldn't work the other way - put the meds on Cagney's feathers and let B clean him up!

I think medicating the tame ones is harder. For aviary birds you just catch them and do it. There aren't all the behavioural repercussions and trust issues that you get with a tame little pet.

The little tyke escaped from the manor whilst I was trying to catch him for his meds. He is impossible to catch whilst out. He won't go back to the manor either! Not stupid that boy.

At times like this I wish there was a number I could call & someone could come out & catch him & administer meds. I'd willingly pay for that service!

Bezukhov 1, Human 0 I know that game. If I catch Boo the first time it's: Human 1, Boo 0. If I don't catch him the first time it's: Boo 25, Human 0

That's an interesting thought. Plus there may be less emotional attachment on the human side & therefore less hesitation.

The little blighter evaded capture until 1900 hours. I managed to give him most of his medication. He's a bit worn out now with all the flying about. Got to do it all again tomorrow & the next 35 days....

I don't have trouble with the catching as mine are used to that, but they still struggle like the bejesus when meds are about to be forced into their beaks. Poor B, and poor you, sweetpea. It is not fun.

I really don't know what to do..... I've been chasing B around the manor for an hour now.... We are both stressed. If I let him out it's game over. If I was at least 20 stone wide I could block the door way. I have tried with a tea towel but nothing works. If he's not in the loft area it's impossible.

I managed to get the little blighter. Stressed Human 1, Stressed Bezukhov 0.
I pegged a tea towel across the bottom of the closed landing platform. Then (don't laugh), I draped a sheet around me & pegged it either side of the open door. (This is the montana san remo cage with enormous front door). The aim was to be able to stand in front of the open door & close off escape routes.

My vet turns out all the lights with a budgie in a cage and just scoops them off the perch.
