well ive got an update for you all.
little girl stopped laying eggs for about a month and then started acting like she was when she was egg bound. she was straining, fluffed up, didn't want to walk, panting and not biting me. so we went back to the vets and saw the other one. She said she could feel an egg but it was higher up so little girl would need some oxytocin to help it along, a calcium injection and calcium and vit d drops for her water and if no egg after a couple of days to go back. Well no egg and same vet said they could still feel something so gave her another injection of oxytocin. A few days later and still no egg, she had improved a bit was was still nesting all the time.
So we went back and saw the new vet who is ment to be a bird keeper too. he said he could feel something high up but it could just be the bottom of the stomach as she was fighting too much to get a good feel. he said he would find out about the implant for me. He found out about that and we went back to discuss it, this time feeling her he didn't think there was an egg there so I decided not to get the implant as it involves knocking them out and if she didn't have an egg then the injecting the first vet gave must be working still. He was happy to wait and see as she had perked back up to her normal self with just a bit of nesting.
So I decided to put in 2 nest boxes and carry on with the drops as discouraging her to lay didn't help so figured if I put in boxes and she does want to lay she wont be holding on to them looking for a spot. Was also advised to give her less day light hours.
Well she has started laying again, however this time no problems! she now has 4 perfect eggs. Ill be hard boiling them tomorrow as I don't want more freak budgies lol. So im happy for her to carry on as long as they don't get stuck.
