Vaseline will not harm your bird in any way but must advise not try to clean off anything from your bird using cotton wool or even cotton buds either. A soft toothbrush can be used if necessary. Are you able to treat your bird with Ivermectin? Please see here and use Ivermectin 0.1% spot on for help with Scaly Mite treatment. Plus if your bird is housed with others they will also need to be treated with Ivermectin.

Oh bless him, don't panic, as sam said it wont hurt him but be sure to keep him warm as it will affect his insulation, it will come off in time, well done for trying its not easy treating them without getting into a mess .

I don't blame you for waiting. The trouble with vaseline is you have to keep applying it every three days so by the time you've finished he will end up looking like a tub of vaseline . Ivermectin is sooo much easier for you.

Whoopsie! Bit of a mess, huh. Use petroleum jelly vaseline, not the liquid stuff. Even if you're using vaseline oil or the jelly, dip your fingers in it and wipe it on that way, so you don't have a big accident. If you pour it on, it will go everywhere.
When you do it, and this includes the application of the ivermectin when you get it, gather all the stuff you'll need and have it open and ready to go so that the procedure is done as quickly and painlessly as possible.

I haven't used any of the ones in the links I sent you; I am in Australia and import laws are terribly strict, but as long as the active ingredient is 0.1% Ivermectin, which this one is, there shouldn't be a problem. And don't worry about how the poor boy looks; if you can help relieve his itchiness I am sure he will forgive you for making him look like an oil-slick rescue. Good upon you for doing this to yourself for the sake of the birds.

As long as it has 0.1 Ivermectin, it should be fine. Better to use wellknown brands

I bet your bud takes some catching now, even if you catch him/her they will take some keeping hold of. Sorry for the poor little bud. How is he or she doing now?

Haha yes he's fine but to be honest I haven't tried to apply Vaseline again.... I'm waiting for scatt to arrive.... I hate seeing them terrified of me. Even when I just go say "hi" they look at me so suspiciously lol... He does looks better now. Well Vaseline wise I can see the beak more deformed

That could be because the feathers aren't covering his face and beak so much, being slicked down, so his beak is more prominent.
