I still feel a bit worried about the seed in the poop. Especially with the weight loss. I can't remember if Brodie has been ill before? Something in the back of my mind tells me there was something wrong a while back? Have you got any real apple cider vinegar to put in his water? I put a few drops into 100mls of water. I hoped someone else would feel the same as me about this. It's just not something that happens without cause. Thanks both for your concerns, I must admit, I'm a bit puzzled by it too, however he's not done any more poos like that so fingers crossed it won't happen again. And yes, he had a sinus infection a few months ago.

Well, we got the lamp yesterday, crikey it's BRIGHT! Gave me a massive migraine which is still lingering, I think I need to build up tolerance to it. Brodie seemed fine with it. He's eating his egg off his own bat but unless I hold the seed pot up to him he's ignoring it, when I do he tucks in enthusiastically & his poos look better, plus the alarming rate of feather loss has slowed down slightly so hopefully things are looking up. I'll keep tempting him with food until he's acting more normal for him.

I've not tried that but he has got a boiled egg which he's tucking into.

Hopefully he just had an off day and his seed travelled through too quickly to digest. Eat your seed Brodie, there's a good boy.

I hope little Brodie puts the weight back on and responds well to his light. I have my lights on a dimmer switch so I'd struggle with something bright too. I hope you can get used to it. xx

All good so far; lets hope it stays that way. Glad he has put on a little weight.

Things still aren't right here. Once he was putting on weight I tried to reduce the time hand feeding him, hoping he'd go down to his seed himself & he was up to a point but not really eating much. He's still getting easily distracted eg will go over to millet then go "Ooooo, look, BELL, TOY, FEATHERS etc". The only thing he was/ is eating himself is the boiled egg, it ran out so he didn't have one for a few days & his weight was dropping again so he's now on egg number 2'& I'm holding the seed up to him again. It's puzzling as when the seed is right in front of him he's there for ages, tucking in - I've even had a numb arm I've held it for so long! (My muscles also have a tendency to twitch/ jerk without warning which is an added excitement for us both... so far I've not actually chucked the seed everywhere by accident though so that's positive! ) He is having the odd moment of going down to eat but still not much. Any advice? We're getting used to the lamp & I do think it's helping.

PS otherwise he's perfectly fine, very bouncy & chirpy. He's not out so much playing but is still very busy & happy & his poos are looking grand!

Maybe try moving the food bowls up higher. He may have had a fright while eating and is wary of the spot now.

Do remember that the egg is a more high-potency food than the general budgie seed, so while he is gobbling down the egg he will likely not feel the need for seed so much. Have you tried mixing some seed in with the egg?

Merry and Pippin are the same with their food at the moment. Before the clock change they'd eat in the morning before I got downstairs at 1pm then come down a few times around 2, 4, 6 and 8. Now they don't eat in the morning and sometimes don't go down before 5. If I hold it up they'll eat very happily. They went down at 9:30 last night for some supper. It's halved the amount of seed they're eating. I'll make sure the vet weighs them. I'll be interested to see if they've dropped weight. They don't seem bothered by their lack of appetite. If this is Brodie's second winter how does his behaviour compare to last year when the clocks went back? I hope he's still enjoying his bells
