I'm after advice - my budgie has never really interacted too well and always slept a lot but over the past week he is sleeping a lot and is puffed up too! He's still eating and having the odd fly around the front room! Should I be worried x

If in any doubt it might be advisable to take him to the vet to be sure.
But is he showing any other sickness signs i.e. change in the consistency of his droppings (are they watery)? Any sound coming from his breathing and is it rapid? Might he be in any draught?
Forgive the assumptions but we would need to find out as much as possible to get an idea of why he is fluffed up and sleeping a lot.
If there are no other obvious signs then you may need to get him to a vet, btw are you in the UK?

Rather a lot more information would be needed, and photos to see the health of the bird before any advice could be given with any sort of accuracy.

His poo has always been quite watery since we have had him which is about 3 months now! He does play with out other budgie too which is why I'm questioning this as he seem fine when eating and playing! He is just sleeping a lot and fluffs himself on us like he wants cuddles and he has let us handle him loads more too

Can you post a picture of him when he is like this? If you need help with posting a picture look here and are you in the UK? If so you will be able to purchase Guardian Angel which may help. We do need more info to be able to understand how your bird is sick, i.e. what is he eating and if you are giving fresh fruit and veg you need to stop this whilst he is poorly

It is good to feed your budgies fresh foods but within moderation - cucumber might be what is causing his loose poops so just monitor over the next couple of days. From what I can tell from his pic he does look a tad fluffed up but his eyes look bright - so would recommend just taking away the fresh stuff for a few days get some guardian angel in administer as per instructions in his water and monitor how he goes. You may want to keep him warm too as they can suffer a chill which can be fatal. Do you cover them at night? Also how often do you feed him fresh foods? Here is a link to what is recommended for your budgie. As a rule I wont give them fresh every day but every other day and only a little to start off with to avoid the watery poops

he has perked up a bit and has been out flying around with our other budgie for the last few hours. So i am hoping he is just a tired bird.
i dont really feed him fresh food alot, normally twice a week! and then its only cucumber, apple and sweetcorn! i will do some research and look at the foods i should be giving them. Yes we cover them at night from about 9pm and uncover when the whole family is up to give them a long sleep.

Another thing is he going through a moult atm? If so, that can take a lot of energy out of him as well and as there is no light about in the winter it can make them less active. Personally it sounds like you are doing all the right things you may want to add a bit of hard boiled egg if he is in moult as that will help with protein for feather growth and energy. I take it he has a cuttlebone too? Just so he gets his calcium. Let us know how you get on, glad you found us! I am sure he will be fine
