My poor boy is sick again. I'm at a total loss at what to do. The avian vet I go to only works a Tuesday and Wednesday. This has been from what, March / April on and off that he's had these ill spells. He gets medication and injection, gets better, then some time after stopping the meds he gets Ill again it seems. He is all puffed and miserable looking, his poop is weird, it was watery with greenish fluid a few days ago, then went a dark brown, and today it's kind of greyish, like a white coating over it all, and the black blood spots are on his nails again. I'm worried. I had some of his last lot of antibiotic left over so gave him some as I didn't know what else to do, then he was sick he is now up on the top of the door puffed and sleepy. I have guardian angel in the cupboard but it's about 2 years old and has been opened. Don't know if it will be ok? I feel anxious.

Thanks Moogie, he needs loving vibes the poor soul, It's weekend service ffiscool. They now link up with 7 different vets in the area and take turns each when out of hours, and even if I got hold of my own vet surgery the avian specialist would not be there till Tuesday. If I knew of any other avian specialists in Glasgow area I would be there in a shot If he gets worse tomorrow I will probably look to taking him to Edinburgh vet school as I cannot think of anywhere else.

I'm so sorry lemonade that little Apple is sick again, I know we both use the same vet (Mr Lawrie) and I wish I knew of another avian vet nearby who could help you out. I have Guardian Angel which was bought earlier this year, and would be more than happy to meet you to give you some of mine if I thought it would help Apple, if we both share the same vet, then we don't live that far away from each other, let me know what you think of the idea, or PM me if you want to meet. I hope he is ok, lots of love to the wee guy x

Thanks Jellybean, that might be an option if I think he needs it tomorrow. I checked the stuff I had and it's turned solid in the tub. I can Pm you tomorrow if I need to borrow some In the last 45 mins he was sick quite a bit more, the last vomit was quite a big pool of liquid, which I know will be that medicine and his game bird tonic. He then went to the egg food bowl to eat and then to the seeds. I brought some red millet out (he doesn't get millet anymore) but I figured it would be easier for him to eat and help get his strength up and feel a bit better. He ate loads. I've not put him to bed yet as worried and want to keep an eye on him, but he's tucked in sleeping on the arm of the chair

Oh bless him. Hopefully he has only been sick from the meds and now it's out his system. Glad to hear he then ate. I am sorry you are having this worry with him. It makes us feel so helpless when they aren't ok. I hope he perks up after his food/sleep. Hugs to you.

Tuesday is such a long way away when you have a sick bird. If only the vet could resolve this once and for all, but thinking of you and Apple, poor boy. Hugs and healing vibes to help him get better. xx

So sorry to hear about Apple being so poorly again, and so sorry as well for you as it is so horrible and worrying. And it has been going on for so long it must be really wearying. I can't think of anything other than the usual keeping warm advice but maybe Apple doesn't want to be in a cage just now. Also, you know you can phone the vet school anytime for advice? Healing hugs to you both.

Hi jellybean, well today he hasn't vomited. But he still isn't well, he has been puffed and sleeping lots. But the wee soul has tried to make an effort and give kisses and tweets to the others. Very early this morning he either fell off his swing or got a fright. I heard him climbing and had to go put him back on his swing. He slept till midday. I then had him in our room with 3 sides covered and he snoozed a lot. He started tweeting and shouting through the other room about 4pm so I let him in then. I've decided to ring the vet tomorrow 1st thing, and if Chrissy is working in any of the practices I will take him to see her, I trust her with the buds, if I can't get an appointment I'm still going to ask him to be admitted so he can get supportive treatment, maybe a booster injection, rest and meds until he can be seen by Mr. Lawrie on Tuesday. That's if he's even there ... I'm fretting incase he is on holiday or something.
