PoPo's longest flight feather has broken off at a weak point which was caused by French Molt. The remainder of the feather is still in her and this morning I found a spot of blood on her feathers where the broken one touches when the wing is closed. In this pic you can see the broken end of the feather sticking out at a weird angle. There is no bleeding now and only a slight touch was transfered to the other feathers. What will happen to the feather now? Will it just stay there till it's time for it to be replaced naturally or should I take her to the vet? PoPo seems fine and is playing with us, walking all over us today and pruning herself contently. By the way I also found a scan I had taken of the feathers she first lost when she was 25 days old due to the virus. I think it's a pretty good example of how the virus effects the shaft of the feather with dried blood being found in many and the thickness and health of certain lengths being effected along with malformities. Anybody not sure what an unhealthy feather looks like, this is it.

Not an expert on this Robert, but common sense would tell me it will replace itself naturally. However, if it's causing problems because of its location on the wing or if the broken end is really irritating her, you may have to get it pulled out.

Are you sure she had french moult Robert ?
It will replace at the next moult, if she picks at it just hold the area wher it grows out of the wing with finger and thumb, hold it tight and in one movement pull it sharpy out

We didn't test for it but pretty sure. Ok for now I won't touch it unless she seems bothered by it much.
