I was eating a bowl of chicken, with a preserved lemon sauce and brown rice for lunch, and Buddy Boo went mad for it. So I gave him a teeny bowl of chopped chicken and rice. Since he's going through a minor pre-summer moult, I also thought the extra protein would be good for him. He's really really keen on the brown rice.
Anyone ever feed brown rice to their birds?
I believe brown rice has energy in the carbohydrates and some protein in it too - if I remember anything from my school days.

I never did but I know a few people feed brown rice to their budgies. Cooked chicken is fine.

Brown rice and wholemeal pasta. Both are good.

Rice is good for birds with a vomiting problem but must not contain salt

I have offered mine brown rice before but they weren't that keen. May try again some time.

He's really funny when he gets a taste of a new flavour he really likes. He looks at me with a look that says ' this is unreal!", and starts the whole head bobbing thing while he's still eating. Little nutter.

Yeah. He went off on a leaf of basil this afternoon as well. Actually, I bought a whole basil plant at the market, and he keep leaping all over it in spasms of delight.

I also buy plants, my basil's coming along well but keep over watering coriander I bought some live cress the other day from tesco (29p!) but it doesn't come with any instructions for keeping it long term other than "keep in refrigerator". Any ideas?

Any ideas? I find that the cress lasts well in the fridge for a week without watering. I buy it too - 28p asda
