If any of you use vanodine v18 then add two drops into the birds water...................what many do not realise is that calcium and iodine are often connected and both can be deficient in our birds . There are more cases of iodine deficiency in todays budgerigars than ever before. I suggest for first 7 days each month we all add iodine into the water, the last 7 days of each month we all add a calcium supplement to our birds water

Marianne, only my best thoughts and prayers for you and Blueboy. Hopefully the vet will have the solution to Blueboy's goiter.

Just got back.
The vet (she is trained in exotics) thinks it is Aspergillosis and that he already had it but it was brought out by stress. He's a very stressed out little bird.
She says that it may have spread to his air sacs.
She gave him a multivitamin and steroid injection.
She is going to ring me tomorrow so that I can order some meds for the Aspergillosis.
I was also told that I should get him a nebulizer(one meant for babies) and get some F10 to go in it to help him breathe. I have to cover the cage and nebulize for 15 minutes at a time.
Poor little tyke. I have just spent more on him in an hour than we have on ourselves in our last two shopping trips for groceries.
I do hope he gets well. He was making little stressed noises and hated being injected. He flew right out of the box when he got home!

Hope he is back on track soon, Marianne. All the best for a speedy recovery, Blueboy. With aspergillus being a fungus I was interested in how and why. I found this: www.avianweb.com/aspergillosis.htmlwww.virginiacaputo.com/parrot/asper.htmlNothing leaps out and bites me regarding Blueboy's contracting it, maybe you will find something there that could be the probable cause, Marianne. Except more chamomile tea to calm him down.
