I have a baby born on March 4th who still shows no sign of eating on its own. It pecks at millet but I can't really see any husks and I have mixed seed on offer as well as trying carrot, strawberry, chickweed and broccoli. All are refused although I keep offering everyday. I know they can take longer when there is just one but am I worrying over nothing? I feed it 3 times a day now.

Sorry, Robin, we don't have many breeders on the forum atm, but I would continue feeding the chick until it is obviously able to hold its own. Are you able to try it with seeding grasses?

Hello and thank you for your response. I'll try with some grasses and see what happens. It pecks away at the millet spray but it's more of an attack than a feed!Same with the chickweed.

That's a worry, if you have already tried chickweed - most budgies seem to like this. Maybe he is just a late starter. I don't know what else you can do, except feed him enough to keep him going but not so much that he doesn't need to feed himself.
