Hello!
Just wondering if anyone here keeps / had kept parrotlets? There are a couple of beautiful blue young ones in a shop local to us (already reserved) but they look like fun characterful little birds which we might look at getting a couple of next year maybe...
Does anyone have any experience or advice about keeping these birds?
Many thanks.
Patrick

I don't we have, Patrick. Unless some member is keeping them very close to their chest.

I did do some research on these as I fell in love with them instantly! And can totally see why you are interested in them. But I did find out that they actually prefer solitary company and will bond with you very well. However regardless of their sex, its never suggested that you keep parrotlets caged together unless they are a breeding pair. Best case scenario is that they will bond to each other and want nothing to do with people, worst case scenario they will violently fight until only one is left. Parrotlet's are known to be territorial and they don't do well with cage mates, even male and female pairs have been known to attack and even kill each other. If you really want two I would highly suggest getting two separate cages for them and a playstand/gym for them to interact with each other. I hope that helps

They can be, at times...we had two - a yellow/orange and a blue one...they lived out the back, undercover in the bbq area, so their 'noise' didn't bother us...I don't believe I could have them inside...my son, also had a Galah, I wouldn't have one of those inside, either, but know folk, whom do...our 'Bill', tended to 'screech' the morning in lol ...but then, each bird is an individual and some can be quieter then others, just like humans. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
