very beautiful how they live together . they preen each other now . and french kiss BUT i really don't want them to be scared of me . i guess time will solve this problem . As Hezz says, they wont always be scared of you, you must be patient. Do not forget that you are huge in size compared to a tiny bird. When I first started to put my hand in my birds cages they used to flap about to get away from me, but now it is part of our routine, they do not think anything of it. IT becomes normal and they know that you wont hurt them.

when i first got my boy he could fly vertically around 1 meter . now he can fly vertically around 30cm . what is wrong with him ? it is very obvious that his flying skills are getting worst . but my female flies like eagle very strong and very fast .no limits for her ^^

Doesn't really give us a good look at his wings, aamm. Can you send another closer photo of him from the back so his wing feathers are shown up well, please???

Hasn't worked. Cancel that, it has now. He looks like he's missing a few on the flight. Should there not be 7-10 feathers on the primary flight feathers?

Here is a picture of what your bird's wings should look like. If you can hold your bird and carefully open it's wings (one at a time) you should see many primary flight feathers. I suspect that yours have been clipped, and just the last 2 or 3 have been kept for aesthetic reasons. It will still fly but not for any distance.

I very much doubt that it will affect their bonding as they do not use their opened plumage to attract the opposite sex, like peacocks and many others do. As stated previously by Hezz I believe, it's up to them if they bond, not you. The male will flex his wings out briefly, but it is not a prolonged display. They see in ultraviolet so they use this as their guide to a mate that is suitable. Someone recently put a post on showing what a budgie looks like in ultraviolet, and how the feathers fluoresce. This is the main attractant for bonding (from what I have read), I may be wrong. Your budgies look young, so bonding for the reason of mating will not be in their interests at the moment. Bonding for friendship is done by same sexes at any age. I have two adult cocks that are always kissing and feeding each other, but this is more for hierarchal reasons IMO. I also have an adult cock that regularly feeds a young hen of about 4 months old. At around 6 - 8 months old they become sexually mature, and it depends on the climate that they are in as well as to how soon they start to breed. You can bring a bird (of sexual age) into breeding condition but it requires a lot of reading up. Having the right environment, humidity, temperature, a good healthy food programme of fresh veg/fruit and quality seed, along with extra supplements, lights, and a radio helps bring them into breeding condition. Read Barrie Shutt's thread in the Breeding section for some good advice on beginner breeding. In regards to the feathers growing back, they should do after a while. I've not yet seen anywhere that states that once they are clipped they remain that way. I know very little about clipping wings, and I never intend to do such a barbaric thing unless for medical reasons of course, so I guess they will eventually drop out and be replaced like any other feather. I regularly see tail and flight feathers that have fallen, and within a couple of weeks there is a new one sprouting. Personally I wouldn't let your bird fly too much in case he injures himself due to not being able to fly well. Hopefully someone with better knowledge of clipping will give you a more definitive answer shortly. Keeping budgies is exciting, but learn your birds first before worrying about breeding and if they are likely to become bonded. You may find that you want a couple more birds, in which case you may see that they bond better with new birds, as there is now a choice, but it is their choice. Many well known breeders will pair up a hen and a cock for the first time and nothing happens. They will put them with different partners and then it does happen. It remains the bird's choice, always will!

If all he has been able to do is fly about a metre, then I am guessing that the flight feathers have been cut. Catch him up and stretch his wing out; you should be able to see whether they have been trimmed or not. Also most budgies are going through a moult around now - have you noticed any flight feathers on the floor of his cage? If he has been trimmed and he is moulting, it is possible that he is losing the flight feathers that were enough to keep him in the air. As long as the trimmed feathers (if they have been trimmed) have not been cut too short, when they moult out they will be replaced with normal feathers and he should regain his ability to fly. We can't say how long it will take for all the feathers to be replaced as they don't drop all the flights in the one moult usually, so it could take a couple of moults, possibly 6 months before they are all replaced.
