for Georgie!! NOOOO don't worry!!! Georgie has to go on a diet!!!! ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I was washing her bum yesterday (yes bum's again!!) and I thought to myself that she looked very big in that area. (Does my bum look big in this came to mind!! hehe). Anyway, went on line and checked what the average weight for a hen of her breed should be and I am sorry to say she is at least 2lbs overweight! Now she eats exactly what Bea eats, but probably more in quantity, and Bea is perfect weight for her age and size. So, from today, a real BIG cut down on treats for Georgie I'm afraid. Bea is actually slightly underweight but I don't think that's a bad thing, she likes her veggies more than most things whereas Georgie will eat everything that's going. I am just hoping that this excess weight hasn't done too much damage already, something else for me to check on-line.

Oh my! Poor Georgie - but at least you caught it early and can do something about it. Silly question, but will it make a difference as the warmer weather is coming? Do they lose more weight due to being out more in the sun all day? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Oh dear, the perks of being a female of any kind. Poor Georgie, I did think something had happened when I saw your post, so it was a relief to read this. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Perhaps she will sweat more in summer under all that fluff ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) Her own little sauna

Not so surprising I guess, as Bea is the one who has had all the broody problems, prolapses etc and etc's ...... Georgie might have been making sure nothing went to waste ........it did go to waist ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) No more oats for you, Georgie-girl!! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Not so sure samwiseg whether they lose weight in the hot weather, but they do with lots of exercise which I think they get anyway. But overweight causes respiratory problems which don't help when its hot. As you say, have caught it quite quickly, as she hasn't been overweight for too long. The new chooks will keep her trim I'm sure!
