Today I've noticed Dittos poos have got very large. They are normal in every other way. She's not old enough to lay eggs so is there any other reason this could be happening?

Can't give you an answer Wendy, but just a thought, does Ditto eat all her veggies and that be a contributory factor?

Both my hens passed big poops ..... Mango way before she started to lay eggs, and Smudge has never laid an egg, but still Ditto is still a baby; I wouldn't have thought her hormones would have been coming into play just yet. For my hens the big poops have been more a hormonal thing than an egg-laying thing. But then, my girls are both rather ....... different. In short, sorry can't help; I have no idea what might be going on with her.

Can't give you an answer Wendy, but just a thought, does Ditto eat all her veggies and that be a contributory factor? The only thing that's changed is that she isn't having millet every day. Now we have a feeding station she can have normal seed. It was easier to give a piece of millet as she would throw the pringle lid about and lose all the seed, millet was easier for her to find. Thanks Hezz I'll just have to watch and wait.

Perhaps she's just eating more?
Is she pooing as often or less often?

Perhaps she's just eating more? Is she pooing as often or less often? Just as often. I think you could be right Marianne. She does seem to be eating more. I was giving her a 2inch piece of millet and a small amount of seed but the seed was getting scattered all over the place so maybe she wasn't eating as much of it as I thought. Her poos are larger than my boys poos though.

It is great that she is eating more, unless that in itself becomes an issue, but maybe her system is still having to adjust to more waste, so is trying to rid itself of it quickly. Who knows, and I guess it doesn't really matter unless ........ oh, yes it does, doesn't it, SQ? She can't drop her poops like a normal birdie, so this all makes your job that little bit messier.
