Hi fluffball and thank you - another vote for the Hagen Sounds as if Teddy loves his cage. I've now got my accessories - wooden screw on perches, wooden ladder, bath with mirror in the base. All I need now is cage and budgie !!! Will share photos when he arrives. Can't wait !!

Back to your other question, the two cages on those different sites look exactly the same to me; exactly the same dimensions as well, and I wonder about the price, as one doesn't give a price.

Hi and welcome to the forum personally I would simply go for the biggest cage widthways that you can afford and fits into the space you have available. Cages with all horizontal bars are better for climbers too so keep and eye out for one like that. Also a decent sized cage door is a help when taming and training, allowing you to get your arm into all parts of the cage, it also helps with interim housekeeping in the cage between cleans. I have the Ferplast Piano 6 which I know you mentioned is too large for your space, but it's one and only downside is its smallish doors, I have to be a bit bendy when housekeeping As for the smaller cage for your caravan, as long as your bud has plenty of time outside the cage, I'm sure they would tolerate a smaller cage for short holiday periods. It depends on personality as to whether they will cope with the change in environment. If you can tame it up into a confident bird who is well bonded to you, chances are it will enjoy the change of scene and variety. Can't wait to see pics of your new baby in its new home

Thank you for the welcome and helpful reply. The breeder has done some excellent work, because when we went to choose him he was happily sitting in the breeders hand, enjoying being stroked He's ready to collect tomorrow, so will be off to get the cage tonight. So excited !!! Just a quick question - he's obviously used to being handled, but not by me, so how long should I leave him to settle ? Thank you for the advice about the caravan. The cage won't be tiny, and it's a static caravan, so there will be plenty of space for his time outside the cage. It does have a large window at the front, so think I would be best advised to close the curtains ! Each cage seems to have some advantage or disadvantage, but good point about the horizontal bars. This one at The Range looks good, but I don't need the stand !! www.therange.co.uk/mara-bird-cage-and-stand/bird-cages/the-range/fcp-product/49792Will share pics of my new baby and his cage !

I joined two cages together to make one big one and have vertical bars and they scoot up them and slide down them, not a problem for my 2. Good luck with him tomorrow. Both of mine were hand tame, I used to put my hand in the cage straight away and get them to sit on it. Jo not so comfortable and she is a typical hen and it is HER cage and do not touch it or me, where as Pippin, cocky cock, does not care what is happening he just wants to be out.
I have large patio doors and they know when they are open or shut and turn around mid flights, now flying into me is a different matter!

Hello and welcome tweety. I always cellotape papers (A4 white but you could use newspaper) to the windows when I let a new bird out, so that they can see that it is a barrier and not try to fly through the glass and consequently hurt themselves. Also a tip about perches, usually the perches that come with your new cage are useless, so good perches (it seems you have bought already) all different dimensions and types of wood are really good. I always feel too and have found that budgies like a dish to bath in and not the type of bath you clip onto the cage. I use a glass casserole lid on top of the cage with a bit of basil in the water. Try not to waste to much of your hard earned cash on useless items that pet shops love to sell you. Newspaper or similar for the floor, definitely not sandsheets (harmful to budgies feet). Please do not hesitate to ask advice before you buy, we all have experience of do's and don'ts and don't mind how many times you ask us.

Horizontal bars are over-rated. Don't be put off a cage simply because it might have vertical bars.

A belated welcome to our worldwide budgie-loving community, tweety!
Just a thought about taking your bud on holiday with you - quite a lot of people say their buds like travelling so this shouldn't be a problem. I suppose the only consideration is if you are in the caravan for two weeks at a stretch that would be a long time for your bud in a small cage, as presumably you couldn't let him/her out? As regards a change of cage, depending on how much space you have at home you could have both cages in use (maybe the one with special toys in so that it is a desirable destination) so that he/she is quite comfortable in both?
[Edit: Sorry missed 2nd page of replies when I wrote this!]

Thank you again for your advice. I've collected him, and he's now safely home He's only been here about an hour, but has already had a drink, and is now happily eating. So far, so good !!!!! Thank you for the suggestion about getting him used to two cages, so it wouldn't be unfamiliar when he goes to the caravan. We are never usually there longer than a week at a time, and I do plan to let him out. Will post a pic of him ASAP. Just need to choose a name now. Thank you again for the lovely welcomes and advice

Hello - I've been fiddling around trying to figure out how to post a photo of the cage I finally decided upon. Think I have finally sorted it !!! Hopefully below will be the photo ! Still need to move things around a bit, and add a few toys, but very pleased with it. Think I need to post the pics of my new bud in a different category so will try that in a moment.
