Ok, OP perhaps you can help me here - first I have to log in to get into my (this) laptop via Microsoft and Hotmail. Is there anyway I can change that so I can power up and log straight into google? Or is it a package I have that can't be changed?I don't want to fiddle as I've done in the past and had to pay to get it fixed. My next point being related, my old laptop which was a much better one than this one and I had it for over 8 years, had XP on, it crashed a few years ago, I took it to be fixed and they lost the contents on the hard drive (well I'd already lost some)! I had a look at it again a while back and was reminded why I got a new one! One powering it up, I got on the screen 'domain not recognised or no domain' something like that and I'm wondering what that means. I presume it's empty as the last guy who 'fixed' it messed it up even more but I'd like to know if there is a way of getting back into it? Thanks

To answer your first question, it sounds like you are using The Cloud. That's precisely what it sounds like, you start your computer then log on to the cloud. In a nutshell there is little you can do for that. It is a safety feature. The second question means that your network is not set up fully. As part of the boot up sequence the network card is initialized and logs itself on to a network. If you have a Windows XP boot disk you should be able to fix that by placing that disk into your cd/dvd drive and booting from it. You should then get the option to boot into a safe mode where you can set up your network properly. I hope there is not too much information there for you.

My other laptop, I can't find a disc I think, like this one, it was set up for me when I bought it and I added apps. So if I don't have a disc? Thanks for your help OP.
