Hi,
My normal green cock is about 4 months old and it seems that he is passing through his first moult. His feathers have become ugly, and he sits quite all the time with puffy feathers. Although he eats well. He is paired up with another female of his own age, but he is not naughty with her now a days as he was before.
The question is do budgies get calm and keep their feathers puffy during moulting?
Thanks,

Hi there Tariq, Moulting is stressful for them. It takes up a lot more energy to grow the new feathers, so they often feel like they lack energy. Also, that first big moult is the worst, in my experience.
It's a good time to provide as much extra vitamins and minerals as you can.

But if he is 4 months old and having his first molt, than why is he paired with a hen. He is too young for that.

Thanks Stace. I am happy that it is moulting issue. I was worried that he may not be sick. He is split ino as well.

Budgies Buddy - My birds are all in ane aviary, and he paired up with the female by his own choice. But they were not looking for breeding, just plyaing like normal pairs. But now as I said the male wants to sleep and eat.
