She is really fine Hezz. She does look a little 'drained' as you say, but she had a good flap on her swing yesterday and she is eating well. She has had a couple of naps this morning and is now and it's mid-day. Yes I will need a lie down in a darkened room jellybean. Was a bit of a shock £100. vet bill. I know you have to pay for the anaesthetics but crikey - she didn't need a bucket full!!

Back to vet yesterday to have Missy's plaster removed. Nurse held her while vet used a pair of scissors and surgical spirit to remove it. Needless to say Missy squawked through the whole procedure and due to the very efficient nurse, wasn't able to bite anybody! Vet said the scab would drop off in time and she actually had stitches (disposable ones) so they will disintigrate too. He did say what he removed was huge!! Ordeal over now, just a check up in two weeks time. £100.80 covers all three visits, so I suppose that's not too bad. Have had to separate Billy Boy as he woudn't leave Missy alone when we came back, he is such a litle bully. He is quite happy though in the little cage with his blue mirror and the ring toy.

Fingers crossed that that is the end of the wretched thing, Shirls. Good luck for good news in two weeks' time.

Had to remove Billy Boy once again! Either Missy or Billy Boy has been having a go at her wing! On Monday Missy's wing was bleeding and she had blood on her beak. Rushed and got the saline to bathe and cornflour to administer and it soon dried up. This morning when I uncovered the buds, there was a little pool of blood on the floor of the cage!!! Anyway, the wing looks dry now but I think Missy had been picking at it in the early hours this morning. It wasn't Billy as he is in another cage!
And I thought getting this cyst removed was the last of our problems. I need a 'budgie bucket' to put on Missy's head - you know like they do with cats and dogs after an operation.

There are images of 'Elizabethan' collars for budgies. If you are handy with (and have some) clear plastic sheet you could make one. All you need to make is a cone shape and sellotape the join.

Poor little girl she has a time of it . Its worrying that she has started picking at it, trouble is once they start they wont leave alone sometimes, it would be where she can reach it STOP PICKING Missy, Inky stink, and the gang send there love.

Oh, Missy! Maybe you do need to make her an Elizabethan collar, Shirls. Do you have some bitter apple spray? That might work for you. It didn't deter my birds from the window screens, but on herself, Missy might really hate the taste.

'Inky Stink' - I like that, I call Missy - 'Missy Moo' skysmumHezz, so far Missy hasn't really had a go at her wing since yesterday that is, I have been distracting her sometimes, but I think she just wants to preen and get all that nasty blood stain off her feathers - she looks a right mess at the moment! I will bear in mind the apple spray tho, thanks for reminding me of that.
