I was going round uncovering the parrots as usual. I uncovered Merlin's cage, then Max who is next to him. On removing Max's cover I did a double take as there, hanging on the outside of his cage, was Merlin. Right next to him hanging on the inside of the cage was Max. I just grabbed Merlin to remove him before Max chewed off his feet. I am still thanking my lucky stars that there was no damage to either bird, which is a miracle. How long Merlin had been there is anyone's guess but it could have been all night. I realised that when I changed the seed before bed that I hadn't closed the door on the food bowl properly and Merlin had taken full advantage. I remember hearing some unusual noises coming from the birds in the early hours during my nightly wanderings whilst unable to sleep but didn't think much of it. Also Cookie was cooing a lot, not something he usually does after lights out, and his cage is the other side of Merlin. Merlin sleeps hanging on the bars of his cage so could have been hanging on Max's all night.

Just the sort of sight you need to waken you up, I don't think. I'm just glad it was all alright due to your quick thinking.

Sorry Wendy - you will have to explain to me what Merlin and Max are - I take it they don't integrate? Did chuckle though when I read your thread, but so glad there were no injuries.

Max is a Hahns Macaw and Merlin is a pearly conure. Toby is the African grey. They don't mix, no. They are both cage dominant, meaning any other bird that lands on their cage they would attack. I don't know what would happen outside the cage, never taken the chance. The funny thing is, I didn't even notice that Merlin wasn't in his cage when I uncovered it. Just on auto pilot and doing the same thing I always do, uncover birds.
