He doesn't just shred it does he? You have my sympathy, cleaning that up with out a vacuum cleaner.! Oh no, he has to turn it into confetti then throw it everywhere. I tell myself that it's better than him plucking and just embrace the mess. There is no point in cleaning it up until he's gone to bed for the night or you would be doing it all day. I sweep up the worst of it and shake the dogs blanket outside, then vacuum when his cover goes over. The bad part is when you have unexpected visitors and the floor looks like a paper recycling factory. The boxes he has at the moment are pretty tough so he takes a few days to get through them. He can demolish an average shoe box in a few hours.

Couldn't help but laugh at the expression on his face, looks reasonably guilty 'what else am I expected to do to keep me from getting bored' bless then he goes and hides ......oh sorry, I do feel for you without a vax! I wouldn't worry about visitors, mine take me as I am or not at all!! Although one or two have remarked on how they couldn't possibly keep budgies as they're so messy, oh well

I have managed to get him to stop but he has the odd relapse, he recently chewed one side of his flight feathers off. We've had him since he was 8 weeks old, nearly 18 years.

That face "move on, nothing to see here" , i will never moan about a few seed husks again That just about sums it up nicely. Does Toby go through phases of having to chew, or is this an all time thing, SQ? I would run out of boxes, pdq.

We have a constant supply of box from the dog food we buy. We keep any boxes for him and we pick up and thick catalogues we can get free, like argos, for example, do you have argos? We also give him large tree branches from a willow that my neighbour cuts down every spring. We store the branches and he has them throughout the year. He has toys too but seems to prefer the boxes and branches, which is just as well or we would be bankrupt very quickly.

I see something there that looks like it might be an old phone book??? Well, Toby is only doing his bit to recycle everything for you. Small pieces of paper are much easier to put onto the garden on into the compost. I am not sure how things work for you in England, recycling cardboard, if you are ever in need of more, but the store where I work is a sports store, everything comes in cardboard boxes, large and small, and the public are welcome to come and help themselves to the cardboard bin in the dock area ......

I feel bad for you as I laughed and smiled at this post. I'll never moan about a few budgie feathers and seed on the floor ever again!
