Remember to take your scissors 😀 If you don't see me later, I've been arrested for carrying an offensive weapon, and I blame you jellybean

There is something hugely satisfying about collecting and preparing seed grass bundles, or is that just me

OH has been coming with me for our walks since he's working from home, he's been shown which to pick and where the different clumps are. Of course he thought i had been in lock down too long the first time but now he goes to the different area's and scout's it out while i'm picking, simple pleasures

Yay, I found some. It's been rain-washed overnight and I've given it a good rinse too. Fussyfeathers dived straight in:
Wow, he's loving it!

Well done blue48! So glad he tucked straight in. I scoured the garden again and....success! I found a really tiny, low growing variety dotted throughout the 'lawn' (tbh it's more of a grassy area made of mainly moss, daisies, dandelions, clover and self heal). It was only about 5cm tall but it had the required seed heads and Willow enjoyed his first little taster. Now that I know it's there I'll be able to collect it while I'm waiting for the bigger varieties to appear. Oh, and it's another excuse not to cut the grass. Win, win

Its great if they've eaten something from the wild larder isn't it? Its like my garden doesn't have any dandelions as I just don't get any decent ones...but my mum keeps a couple in her garden for the boys yum yum! I always tell them.."nanny has brought you a present today boys"!!! Lovely pictures as always skysmum, I can't wait for an update on your crew How are the meeps? x

Thank you blue48 and jellybean for posting the pictures! I must admit to being a bit confused what everyone meant by "seeded grass". I kept thinking it was grass grown by seeds and I thought isn't all grass grown from seeds! Now I know what to look for! Buddy and Tweetie Pie love their wheat grass and Buddy jumps on my hand as I'm putting it into their cage - he's even given me a nip or two if I'm not moving fast enough for him. I'm sure they'll love the seeded grass when I find some.

As I was driving to the grocery store today, I kept an eye out for the seeding grass. I did see some. I think the best places for me to pick it will be at the park but they are closed right now. One of my neighbors has some growing near the street. I'm not on a major street - do you think it might be OK to feed to my guys?

I personally don't pick from or near a road tweetiepiesmom , i always go for green spaces away from any traffic and of course you have to be mindful that in a roadside situations they could spray the grass with weed killer, best to be safe
