thought I would put some pics and vids of our chickens and babies hatching, growing, playing their life stages etc with on for you especially for Shirls who I know has some, and all the rest of you animal/chicken lovers there is alot but I thought it would be nice to share them all. again, they might need re-sizing (you can click on the pic to make it bigger) and they arent the best quality, i intend to get a camera soon so i cant take better pics. enjoy!
(avalanche the leghorn rooster in mid strut)
our new born orpington chicks who are all grown up now (we kept 2 hens and a rooster but the farm owner kept the rooster)
when they were first being born second one to hatch under the incubator and the other running in the run
a few weeks later
- looking bigger fluffier and in the run! (we keep them indoors when you and gradually introduce them to the outdoors.
outside for the first
time
going mad the first time outside!
curious
another few weeks
growing quick!
- hey hear me crow!
having a dust bath while avalance tries to get some attention
Mr vorwek
mr vorwerk and his two vorwerk hens, one passed away sadly.
a proud boy.
we added a leghorn hen with him and the other here he is about to freerange with his hens
mrs vorwek freerange
one of our vorwerk chicks starting to hatch!
fully hatching out the egg!! I added some ambient soft music to it, its a gift to watch the miracle of life before your own eyes. sadly all three vorweks later died. after 2 days
mr vorwerk standing proud.
we hatched some lavender orpingtons unfortunately the male chick was born with his leg front to back and twisted, as the female grew he became worse and she was standing on him, all he did was lye down and hardly eat and had stunted growth and couldnt walk he was dragging his leg so after 3 weeks+ we thought it would cruel to keep him as he was so he was humanely put to sleep. we kept the female and she is massive now, with blue feet and a lavender grey coloring i will try to get a pic soon of her.
sorry this not good quality but you can see the darker chick more and the sister running around
this is a sussex hen we hatched with the opringtons, we kept her also, shes very inquisitive and curious
the orpingtons very big and still growing, here the are with the sussex chick they adopted, notice how one of the orpingtons pics some bread up and drops it for her, I added some funny music to it
