Hi There, These are our two lovely budgerigars. We have had them less than a year, we were assured at the pet shop that they were both boys, and have had them checked at the vets and they also said they were both boys. We however are having serious doubts!! The yellow headed one (peanut) is far more timid and has a slightly more aggressive nature than the white headed budgie (Manuel) is more trusting and playful. They seem to get on quite well and live in the same cage. We definitely don't want budgie babies... so are we safe to leave them together? Thanks in advance... Rheanne

Just for interest this is the same two little budgies shortly after we got them, so I can see how there may have been some confusion!

The budgie in the top picture is a Girl the other is a Boy. There will be no problems with them being together, lots of members on here have pairs of mixed sex birds, just as long as you don't have a nest box in the cage, or anything resembling a nest box you will be fine.
Welcome to the forum.

Thank you so much for helping us!

Jellybean is correct. Peanut is a girl.

V cute. Bit concerning a vet didn't know or were they still very young?

Yes, they were still fairly young. Both had blue-y bits above their beaks so I guess thats what threw the vet.
Thanks everyone for your input. Really appreciate it.
We are thinking of calling her Peanut-ella now!

She can definitely stay Peanut; why not?? Just a she-Peanut, not a he-Peanut. Your avatar photo is a beauty. Even from that photo it is fairly obvious that you had a boy and a girl.

Have to agree Hezz even in the earlier photo peanut has a very light blue cere indicative of a female. Maybe get a new vet? are they an avian vet?

If she has a brown cere atm then she will be in breeding condition but when it returns to a pale blue then she will be out of breeding condition. When they are very young it is hard to tell sometimes but I thought a vet would know?! Lovely lovely birds, welcome to the mad bird house You could call her KP for short

I don't think the vet had a speciality. We will take them elsewhere in the future. We really love the birds, they have been so much fun.
We have always referred to them as 'The Boys' though, is taking a bit of getting used to saying 'The Boy and Girl'!
