Bea has gone broody again. She has been so cranky towards everyone this last couple of days I should have known she was hormonal!!! She is a 'repetitive broody' hen but I didn't think this would happen so soon, being as the others are laying well, I thought she would 'join the club'. So it's the sin bin for her, as from last night. All out in the cold!! I did put the cage in the run, so she was sheltered from any wind. She won't lay now for about 5 weeks which is a little annoying (for me, and the people who buy the eggs!!) Poor girlie though, she must be missing Phoebe. The other girlies haven't seen this before as they are my newer girls. All very curious to start with but after a while soon lost interest. I said to them 'I don't know why you are staying with her, you know she doesn't like you lot!' She has been free ranging today, but she soon settles so I have put her in the cage for a while. I will let her out for a while later on, but I have to keep the run closed otherwise she goes into the nest box. The others need access for when they want to lay. The trials and tribulations of keeping birdies!!!!

Poor Bea, poor you! Were she and Phoebe close, Shirls? The three young girlies are all looking very good, in a very Victorian way. All they need are little frilly parasols and the stage would be set.

Yes Hezz. When Morgana got taken by the fox, Phoebe paired up with Bea. Bea would let her eat from her bowl but peck at all the others if they tried to share it. You would often find Bea and Phoebe sitting together while the other three were off somewhere. Bea has made herself top chook in the pecking order since Georgie went. She's been through one hell of a lot in her short little life, bless her. Like budgies, every change is a trauma.

Aww poor Bea! Could it be the reason she has gone broody, because of the loss of Phoebe's? x
