Hi. I've been advised to pop along here and ask for help with boy or girl. I'm hoping a little fella as he's almost learnt to say good boy! But looking at some of the other pictures and advice, I too am starting to lean towards little girl. I believe IT's around 14 weeks? Thanks.

Barney is looking a bit girly, there. The photo is a bit dark on her face (it is not easy getting a good photo natural light, no flash, that is a true representation). Try a few more photos so we can compare, if you like.

Has she got some blue on her belly, or red eyes as Shirls asked? She's either an albino or a double factor spangle. I still think she's a girl.

Hi Shirls, no she hasn't. Has she got some blue on her belly, or red eyes as Shirls asked? She's either an albino or a double factor spangle. I still think she's a girl. Yes, a very pale blue belly, slightly darker around the neck, and shiney white cheek patches. Here's a clearer pic. I've been trying to retrain myself to saying good girl today although this is confusing poor bud as it's getting clearer on good boy. I've also called it Bonnie instead of Barney. Say it right and it won't be able to tell the difference.

Double factor spangle hen then for sure. If she was a boy then her cere would be blue. It also looks whiter in the nostrils (nares) which is indicative of a hen.

That's a big title for such a little thing. Bonnie it is then. I looked it all up to see what it all meant and it makes perfect sense, the silvery patches, the slight infusion of colour etc. Her (I can call her that for sure now! ) tail feathers seem to look either creamy colour or just dirty? She was in a small cage of about a dozen birds when we picked her up on Good Friday. I've put water in for bathing, she had quite a dirty vent, but that is improving and getting cleaner, but she just seems to drink her wather rather than bath. I've got a bird spray bottle and have used that a couple of times.

Yes, agree; Bonnie is a double factor spangle HEN. She won't know the difference, though, if she finds boy easier to say ...... or maybe you can change that so she is saying "good bird" or "good Bonnie" - that one is a bit harder, though. Good Bird would be easier for her.

Bonnie is a very beautiful girl. Lovely clear picture of her, so all the experts can work out her gender. I hope you aren't disappointed she's a girl diane143. She is still very lovely!

I've had her for less for 2 weeks, and she's picked up good boy, I'm sure if we keep practicing, she'll pick up good girl, although she does shout at me if I say good girl after she's said good boy, lol. Nooo, I'm not disappointed, she's keeping me very entertained while i'm working. I spend an awful amount of time talking to myself or the computer, at least now there is someone to listen to me and sometimes chat back! As long as I hold off on a couple of my phrases which include some swearing!

lol... I think she will master good bonnie.. as it sort of is along the same lines as good boy
Bailey said Bailey easily enough and other phrases I thought would be hard.. so keep going and yes, now you are not officially nuts as you are talking to a budgie and not yourself, lol

Now I am doubly convinced she is a hen!!! (Don't contradict me, woman!! )
