Hi,
Our Budgie Bluebell we took to the vet a week ago and she said he had a lot of bacterial in his stomach so his been having one drop of antibiotics twice a day and always been giving him polyaid for extra nutrients (even though he hasn't lost his appetite at all and eating his seed). He has stopped panting almost completely since we started the antibiotics.
Today I noticed there is a seed stuck together all around the sides of the cages and in the towels over his cage, I assume from regulating it? I haven't seen him do this at all, must be over night. He had been eating quite a bit.
He is also more tired today with his head tucked in. He is scratching his bottom occasionally too and looks like Something is annoying him around there. Droppings look good (they were sloppy and green but antibiotics must have fixed his up)
Any ideas? Worth a call to the vet again? He still has 3 days left of the antibiotics.

I agree with Mick. The Ab's may be what is making him vomit but as far as the scratching......is he kicking up with his feet, or scratching with his beak? I too would describe what you are seeing to the vet and see what they have to say.

Thank you, I will give the vet a call hopefully they will be able to advise over the phone as I don't want to stress the poor thing out further. He is kicking up with his feet then reaching round and looks like he tries to pull at his bottom feathers. He just went down for a big feed. Seems like the poop is just coming out as the liquid then the white bit but no black bit (could be what is stuck around bottom) haven't given him is ab or polyaid yet today will call vet before I give anymore.

I do believe it is a recaTION TO THE MEDS THAT IS CAUSING THE SICKNESS

He hasnt bought up any seed since last night, possibly just too much food mixed with polyaid and ab. Also he seems to have stopped scratching his bottom as he has started pooping again. Bit sloppy but that could be due to not going for a while? The vet did say he had a lot of bacterial in his stomach so maybe its still flushing it through his system.

After the meds are finished you need some probiotics to help him get his gut healthy once again..............

We have the vetafarm (polyaid). Do you think the 10 days would be enough on the ab? He seemed to have come good on the 5 day mark now gone down hill a bit at the 7 day mark.

I think that is a question for your vet, Amy. If you have a question, don't be afraid to call and ask. Great that his vent and poop are looking better.
