Hi Harper and I are new to the forum. In fact we are new to each other We have been together now for about 1.5 months. He is hand reared and about 5/6 months now. A beautiful little boy! He is totally tame, climbs on your finger in the cage, sits on your shoulder. He wasn't biting, and we were handling him everyday, multiple times a day. But he has started biting when you put your hand in the cage. He also bites when he is out of the cage and on your shoulder for example. How do I address this? See how beautiful he is in his selfie??? K

A little beauty, not sure how to address the biting, I suppose it's just time and winning his trust? They can certainly nip though can't they

At his age he is hitting the hormonal teens and pushing the boundaries, seeing what he can get away with and what he can't. There is an expectation that he will grow out of it, if he is a he, but it is up to you to let him know that biting is not tolerated; you just need to decide how you are going to address that. Think naughty child and how you would correct bad behaviour there, and apply the same to your bird. He will learn, as long as you are consistent.

Im sure we would all love to see more pictures of dear Harper! No pressure My boy likes to nibble on my fingers and finger nails, and sometimes he can get quite rambunctious! He also really loves to nibble my sweater sleeves and hair... Is he really digging in? The only time Juju has ever bitten is when he wanted out and instead of getting him out my husband thought it was ((smart)) to wiggle his finger through the cage bars, not only did he bite but he also "hissed" at him, but that is the only time(s)[he bit multiple rapidfire bites then! ]. Could it be that he is just nibbling on you out of curiousity? Sometimes my Juju bites hard, but I try not to jerk my hand away, because by doing so he might learn that he can bite when he doesnt want to be handled.

Oh no, no curiosity here, I think he is being naughty! i have started being very stern with a NO! and a pointed finger. Terribly cute, stops and stares at my finger and then bites me again. He does get the message eventually or else he goes back in his cage. Not terribly good pics, will try get a few clearer ones.
