Anyone got any tips for stopping Bud from getting nippy while preening? He's also found a mole on my neck and I need to stop him pecking it.

LOL! This did make me laugh ini! Sorry not meant to be mean but budgies who love you very much will want to preen you to extremes and any moles, freckles, lumps or bumps you have that they spot they think it is (how can I say this politely) er..an imperfection so will try and remove it for you! LOL! Get used to it or move him to a "mole free zone"

I have a small mole on my neck and try and keep JoJo away from it. Feels more like she bites it than preens it!
She sits on my shoulder each day for some out of cage time.

Exactly the same! Bud loves to sit on my shoulder, But it feels like he nips the mole rather than nibbles in a preening manner. Guess I'll have to try and keep him away from it.

I don't think they are trying to preen but rather remove the spot - I do wonder if they think it might be a new type of seed to try ...... ?? So, you are not alone, and it isn't only budgies that do it ...... be thankful he isn't a bigger bird!
