special budgie is a mix i buy from my local bird store its a mix of mainly mixed millet and a small amount of canary seed hence why i was going to add tonic but i have mixed the 2 mixtures together and not fed the tonic seperately

In my flight cages I have separate dishes for plain canary, white millet, tonic mixture and sometimes one for whole oats. Sometimes I place in a dish with a small quantity of the small sunflower seed used by my Turquoisene Parrakeets. They always have carrot each day and dandelion when available, they are not keen on celery. Most days the Budgies get a chunk of Hovis `seeded sensation `bread also. When they are rearing chicks they love small amounts of it too. I have bred Budgies for pleasure since 1956 when I started with a pair of Light Greens, now at 78 I get pleasure combining various mutations mainly of the Blue series.

My opinion is that they get different nutrients from various items. It would be boring if you had fish and chips every day, however if someone produce a pork pie you would think it was your birthday. I have produced 92 chicks this current year so something must be correct.
