I wonder what this little guy will make of it all. Unloved, no toys, no company, to suddenly have it all. Brings a tear to my eye I have to admit.

Phew. I am so pleased it all took place. I had a horrible thought that the owner might change his mind at the last minute and the poor fella would be stuck in solitary for ever.

Phew. I am so pleased it all took place. I had a horrible thought that the owner might change his mind at the last minute and the poor fella would be stuck in solitary for ever. Well done to the owner for doing the right thing too. I suspect that had his circumstances been different he would have been open to learning how to give better care to the little one. This is a lovely story indeed. What I also like is the ripple effect it will have. Though the owner gave him up, he is now aware there are better ways to keep budgies so if he, in turn, comes across someone else not treating their budgie right, he will question that. Well done to all involved. Can't wait to see Max either!

Well, here we go folks. The waiting has come to an end. Good journey up to Maidstone, bit warm, but not too bad. Bit hotter on the way back, and we managed to miss all the queues to and through the Dover hold-ups. Now this may come as a bit of a shock to everyone - Max is a little GIRL!!!! She is now Smudge!!! And Smudgie has settled in her new clean cage with new clean bits and pieces! Not overwhelmed her with toys at the moment, today is a trauma enough for her little soul. Having said that, nothing seems to phase her at all. She managed to bite my daughter quite hard when she put her in her new cage!! She has eaten and drank a little water (I put some GA in as it is her first day of exciting new things). She seems quite comfortable in her cage and has had a good look round it. She is in the kitchen at the moment - cooler in there. Will move her to my bedroom later on. Now for the pictures, only took too, she wasn't keen on the camera!!

She is beautiful, a lovely colour too. I would get some vitamin D in her Shirls, or get her outside for some sun, she probably hasn't had any and her bones could be soft. She is sitting very low.
