Hello all. I was looking for a forum in the UK but the only one I could find "adorable budgies"seemed to have a virus and kept sending me odd links. It looks as though you are a worldwide forum though so I should fit in here too!
One of my daughter's had a lovely budgie who sadly died. after some time, I decided to get her another as a surprise so started looking at them on line. I got her one which she and her family were pleased with. However, seeing all the pictures and him made me think about getting one for myself. We had one years ago when my adult children were kids, and many other animals but had no pets currently. I've been off work for a while with depression and thought it would be good for me, giving me a purpose and someone to talk to even when I was not feeling social. I tricked hubby a bit, suggesting we get a pet, a donkey then worked down to smaller and smaller animals until he agreed to a budgie!
Two weeks after my daughter, I also have a little baby bird, who I asked hubby to name. He choose Aussie as we remembered the wild budgies we'd seen in Australia. I'm going to try and add a photo. The aviary thought he was almost certainly a boy, and he was 6 weeks so is 8 weeks old now. He's lovely and we are getting to know one another.I think he's testing me out!

The photos only show up as very small images for me, so can't give an opinion on Aussie's gender either. He/she looks lovely and I must say thank you for spelling "Aussie" properly! Also, while this forum is world-wide, most members are UK-based, so you should feel at home.

A warm welcome to you and Aussie. He/she looks a lovely little bird. Try tinypics or photobucket to post your pictures, it shows them up larger on the forum.

Welcome s/he is a little corker, I hope you all have many happy times together in the future, the house is very quiet and empty without them once you've had them or any pet really!

Welcome to the forum. Aussie is beautiful. You'll get loads of advice etc on here and it'll be lovely to get updates on little Aussie. Aussie is the same colouring as Bumble don't you think skysmum? Same colours but different pattern.

Thanks for welcome, all. Still struggling with getting a bigger photo in. I tried in the photo bit. I'll try again in this. Aussie and I had a lovely bonding session today and he is now managing some precision landing! He can get in and out of his cage and actually chose to fly to me a few times, and let me help him done from the shutters without pecking me. He sat on my hand and later my head for two long rests, then let me give him a little gentle kiss. I think I'm in love .
