You have to wait until he lands then grab him carefully.

Or get a spare perch and try to get him to step on it. Be calm and don't panic.

I thing you can do is wait... He might well land on his cage at some point and try to go in. So you have nothing toys wise in his cage, you can rattle or tempt him with?
when he has landed, where is he landing?

If you are not going out anywhere, just let him fly. He will come back to the cage at some point. Don't have nay food or water out of the cage and leave the cage door open. Don't chase him around the room, allow him to settle. Keep calm.

Can you dim the light? Draw the curtains or make it so it's getting dark, like the sun is going down. Birds don't like to fly in the dark so he will settle making it easier to catch him. If he's only had him 3 days I wouldn't think he will willingly go into his cage.

My mum is going to pick up some millet to lure him back to the cage would that work

Just to add don't make it too dark so he will hurt himself if he tries to fly. Also close one eye when you approach him so he doesn't see you as a predator. He will probably bite you if you hold him as he will be afraid so be prepared. If you are not confident at catching him with your bare hands try laying a tea towel or similar over him then gently pick him up.

Make sure he doesn't get stuck behind any wardrobes etc. You may be able to distract him with millet, has he eaten it from your hand yet?

I would just stay there with him and stay still and talk very softly.. Don't try to grab him or do anything. He is probably scared already.. Millet will help. Is his cage where you are? sorry wasn't sure if he has come from another room. You ideally need the cage where you are
