This is my best girl (I think...) and she was hatched last August. Her ceres is a nice color, but quite ambiguous. She has a lot of attitude and nip and acts in ways that I've read females have a habit of doing. Anyone able to recognize if my Andradite is a she or he? Thanks for the help!

Marianne Marlow Thank you! Oh, good! I just kept watching and watching and it never turned blue, pink, or brown, so I was a bit mystified. She hasn't started laying eggs yet, but I don't even remember if it's too early to look for it.

It's a very light whitey blue, which means girl. Boys ceres are much darker blue.
There are different colours depending on the birds mutation that show if they are a hen or cock.

Oh and she will not necessarily lay eggs. It's to be discouraged, by not giving her a place to nest.

Marianne Marlow Aaah, I see. She doesn't have anywhere to nest, so that's good. I don't recall seeing a ceres like here online before, is it common, or a specific mutation? I think she's a normal green otherwise.

Her cere is normal, but she's not a normal Green, she looks like an opaline green of some sort.

Agree with everything that Marianne Marlow has said ....and I would go a little further and call her a opaline light (or normal) green.
