I got my budgie back in May, and when I originally purchased him his nose was a sort of bluish color. Recently however its changed into a more brown color. However I believe he's albino so I think that may make a difference? (I've also read conflicting arguments on whether you can determine a birds gender being young or not- I believe he's probably about six months old at this point.) I'm hoping I didn't name a little girl Stanley by mistake! May 2016 September 2016 Sorry for weird post format, I'm still getting used to forums.

It's a hen, a very pretty one too. The brown cere means she is in breeding condition.

Yes, Stanley is a hen. Don't worry, she wouldn't be the first to get a boys name. Our forum member OP has two hens called Bobby and Edward

I've been suspicious for a few weeks, but it's good to know other people have made the same mistake! Oh well, I'm sure she doesn't mind.

I've had an albino hen for about a year now, to finally realise she is a cock! Her his name is Pickle though so it doesn't really matter too much! Caan't get used to calling her - 'him' though!! Stanley looks just like my Pickle apart from the different gender.

(Adorable by the way) I'm going to have trouble getting used to calling him a her now as well. Albinos are beautiful aren't they?
