Is Bob happy? After 4 days complete silence, never a chirrup, squawk nothing, he has progressed to what sounds like cracking seed when I talk to him. Is he telling me get out my face ? He closes his eyes when I do but then goes to sleep, maybe I am too boring.

The noise you talk about sounds like he is beak grinding, a sign of contentment. When his eyes close he is listening to you, truly. All good signs.

That is good. I don't think you have anything to worry about. It often takes days to weeks before they feel comfortable to start really making a noise. He is still getting used to you, your house, his new routines etc. And young birds are just like any other young animal, they need more sleep than an adult. When he is feeling more confident he will start telling you off for doing some of the things you are getting away with presently. Be prepared for this, and don't take it personally. This is when the training fun really starts.

Well Hezz how right you are. Yesterday first chirps heard, a welcome breakthrough. This morning having sprouted some seeds and made birdy bread in an effort to not have a seed only kinda guy. I had removed all plain seed and gave the new offerings, he looked on with curiosity for quite some time before investigating further. A very loud chorus of protest, hes not having none of that, " I want my seed" Whoever coined the phrase birdbrain had no idea. Hes now running round the floor each time I pass or look in, expecting something else will appear. Little doings has me wrapped round his finger already.
