Hi everyone, I'm Becky and I have a 14 week old male Budgie called Jasper. I've owned him since he was 9 weeks and trying to hand tame him has been an interesting experience, seemed to be going steadily and he was eating food out of my hand and sitting on me so I started to bring him out of the cage. He's been out and flying for a few hours per day for the past two weeks. As of yesterday he has been showing some interesting behaviours... he will sit on my bed and run at my hand with his beak open, will bite me and growl at me whilst biting! He has only bitten a few times before this and I have never flinched or yelped when he has so I'm stumped! Desperately want him to be hand tame and comfortable around me but don't know what to do next! Can anyone help?

Maybe that should read he will sit on his bed, That seems to suggest he has now claimed the bed and he is getting possessive of it. Of course he does not know it's a bed. Are you sure it is a male? I'm not questioning your ability tell the difference, it's just the growling that I know usually comes from a female. Whatever, you need to claim the bed as yours. Prevent him from landing on it if you can. That is my opinion, I'm sure ther will be others along shortly.

Aggression can sometimes be territorial.
Do you have a photo of Jasper?
