Hi James... 11 x 7. Wow you've got a pretty big one there! Sounds great. Are you intending to have an outside flight? Is the Bird Room solely for budgies? Do you intend breeding? How many birds do you plan to house? (then add a few ) Where are the windows and how many? Where is the door positioned? Do you want an inside flight? Will you have electricity in the Bird Room? I've asked all the questions as knowing the answers might help you work out possible plans and others will have a better understanding of what is needed. My Bird Room (which is 6X8...so tiny by comparison with yours) has windows wrapped around almost three sides so gets loads of natural light. The sun shines in directly onto the back wall.... so flight cages on that wall need shading at certain times of the year. You will know the relative position of your Bird Room and summer sun... shading might be needed if the windows are opposite a wall which could house flight / breeding cages. An inside flight is a bit different as birds could, perhaps, move out of direct sun into shade - not something they can do confined in a smaller cages. Photos and / or a sketch of door & window positions might help others give you some tips and ideas.

James.... greetings.....would appear that you have it sussed, looks great. Just a suggestion ....if you kept one of the windows as an open/close you could maybe have an outside flight area coming down the garden from the edge of the door to the shed width if that makes sense....hth

Yes perfect sense thanks for the sugestion!! I was thinking of this but im afraid asbi live near a river where loads of buzzards etc sit in trees above would this be a problem? Also have a very playful dog? Haha Hi James - looking great and nice to see there's some help on here for you too. Buzzards - a worry but I have a beautiful sparrow hawk that visits every now and then as well as the local cats that hang on the side of the outside flight!!! No worries. I have double meshed the outside so talons and claws simply can't reach as far as my birds and the budgies know it. They completely ignore cats dangling half way up the wire mesh. They are not so keen on seagulls (big-'uns) clambering on the flights polycarb roof (that has mesh under it but gulls shadows are large) and they definitely (most of them) make a bee-line for the inner flight when the sparrow hawk belts on to the flight.... but they are perfectly safe. So... go for an outside flight but put a double layer of wire mesh on with a gap of about 2" between the inner mesh and the outer layer. This is plenty wide enough to keep dangerous talons away from budgies that just have to hang on the wire now and then. It's an added expense but a good general insurance / safety measure. Keep the good work up. Looking great.

Thankyou very much for all this great info!! Yes will definitely get an outside flight in that case! I bet there is nothing better then sitting in the garden watching your own birds fly about! Will be after christmas tho as im going to try get the inside finished first.
Did not get as much as i had hoped done sunday as it was a dry day and the outside of the shed needed painting before frost etc got to the wood and damadged it! So i tidied the felt roof and also painted the outside of the shed to tidy it up! No pics as of yet.
Tonight i started on my inside adult flight measures 6x3 hopefully enough room for me to get in and clean out etc i have doubled up the wood on the bottom to act as a skerting so theat food/sawdust and droppings dont go outside of the flight while cleaning? Hopefully a good idea! Haha. I will upload pics once ive had my food. Thankyou all for your interest!

James....good progress so far, I would tend to agree with Learner on all points, as for the dogs I have used some decking boards as they are relatively cheap on the bottom of my outside flight and stacked them end on end, they also added strength to the frame work.
What are you doing with the rest of the inside of the shed? Maybe an idea to bring your inner flight area out so it lines up with the door, that would double the flight size.
I have used galvo mesh on my indoor/outdoor flight areas and all I do is wash down with F10, all I will say is so far it has worked for me...hth....cheers...steve
